TULUM RANKED IN THE TOP 10
MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES IN THE WORLD

Tulum

Tulum, situated in Quintana Roo, has recently been recognized as one of the world's most stunning beaches, earning a spot in a global ranking. The International Business Times ranked Tulum's beaches at number 10 globally, citing reasons such as the breathtaking turquoise waters, pristine white sands, rich Mayan heritage, and its reputation as a hotspot for electronic music events.

In this ranking, Tulum competed against renowned beach destinations like Navagio in Greece, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Whitehaven Beach in Australia, Do Sancho Bay in Brazil, Long Beach in Canada, Maya Bay in Thailand, Camps Bay in Africa, Polihale Beach in Hawaii, and Anse Source D’Argent in Seychelles, which is often hailed as the most beautiful beach worldwide.

Some of Tulum's most picturesque beaches highlighted in the magazine include Santa Fe, Pescadores, Paraíso, and those located within its archaeological zone.

Tulum's global recognition is on the rise, with a nomination for the World Travel Award as the best beach destination in 2023. The Tulum Hotel Association reported an impressive 89 percent hotel occupancy rate in February, indicating its popularity among tourists.

In terms of accommodation, Tulum ranks as the third-most popular tourist destination, boasting 230 lodging centers with 10,985 rooms. It follows behind Cancun with 218 hotels and 45,575 rooms and Playa del Carmen with 294 hotels and 45,660 rooms.

Looking ahead, Tulum is set to experience an influx of international visitors in 2024 as American, Canadian, and European airlines are scheduled to begin flights to the new Tulum International Airport in May.

Regarding safety, Tulum is generally considered safe for tourists, particularly in the hotel zones and major tourist areas. However, travelers should remain vigilant, especially after dark, and heed local advice and travel advisories. Petty theft can occur, and while more serious incidents like shootings are rare, it's essential to exercise caution, safeguard belongings, and use reputable transportation services for a safe and enjoyable experience.
