Exciting News: Michelin Stars Debut in Mexico!

Last night marked a historic moment as Mexico welcomed the prestigious Michelin stars with the Michelin Guide Ceremony 2024. The Michelin stars, renowned worldwide for recognizing culinary excellence, have finally made their debut in Mexico, bringing accolades to the country's vibrant food scene.

Mexico City, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, and Quintana Roo were the regions included in the selection for the inaugural edition. Among them, Quintana Roo stood out, receiving strong recognition for its culinary offerings.

Two restaurants in Mexico City stole the spotlight, earning not just one but two Michelin stars each. Quintonil, led by chef Jorge Vallejo, and Pujol, helmed by chef Enrique Olvera, were honored for their exceptional dining experiences and unique cuisine.

A total of 157 restaurants were selected for the inaugural edition, showcasing the diversity of Mexico's culinary landscape. From Tacos El Compadre in Nuevo León to Arca and Buúl in Quintana Roo, the selected venues represent the rich tapestry of flavors across the country.

Quintana Roo, in particular, received a notable culinary nod with several restaurants earning Michelin stars, - Le Chique – by Jonatán Gómez Luna in Puerto Morelos, Ha' – by Carlos Gaytán and Cristian Castillo Sánchez , Cocina de Autor Riviera Maya - by Nahúm Velasco and Mikel Alonso in Playa del Carmen.

These Michelin-starred restaurants are a testament to Mexico's culinary prowess and promise an unforgettable dining experience for food enthusiasts.
